Overall Satisfaction with Google Hangouts
It's used across the whole organization for quick meetings, as we are a distributed team. Also, we used to use it for live class events, but it was too unreliable for our students and we had to switch to Zoom.
- Integrates well with Google Calendar so everyone's on the same page
- Easy to use, just navigate to the URL
- Screen sharing is always helpful and works well most of the time
- Dropping calls
- Hard for new users to understand how it works - would be nice to have up to date and clear documentation for newbies
- Freezing
- Having a limit to the amount of people that can join makes it so we can't hold our all team meetings - allow more people to join calls
- Dropping sound/robotizing voices
- Uses a lot of resources on your computer
- It's made it so everyone can work remotely
- It was a great way to reach out to students before we needed to switch to Zoom
- Helps with debugging issues live
- Zoom
We have switched to Zoom for a lot of our meetings, and I feel like Zoom has a lot more features. When presenting, you can still see the presenting user's face, which feels more personal. You can remotely take over a screen. There's also a whiteboard option.
I recently used Zoom while driving to listen in to our all team meeting, and the interface for using the app while driving was really simple and clear. Google Hangouts makes it much harder to join already existing calls on your phone without someone calling you in.
