Overall Satisfaction with Gusto
It is used to track time for Employees and 1099 contractors. Since it's a small company, it's helpful to track these items to keep costs in order. It also reduces the overhead costs for an entire HR department since much of it is self-managed. The scope is roughly 15 or so users, which isn't large enough for a whole HR staff but large enough to be semi-unmanageable using Excel and relying on people to self-report their hours.
Pros
- Time Tracking.
- Provides necessary paperwork (W-2 and 1099 forms) easily.
- Self-managed.
- Easy to use.
Cons
- Adding in previous time manually could be more accessible.
- Notifications for when employees manually change hours.
- We should allow 1099 users to use the mobile app instead of restricting them to the website, especially since they can just log into the full website on their mobile device.
- Savings of around 50-70k that an HR rep would cost.
- It probably saves higher-ups 5-10 hours a month, not having to deal with Payroll/hours calculations.
- It saves time when generating tax paperwork for employees/contractors.
Gusto is easier to use than ADP Global, especially for small to medium-sized companies. While it doesn't necessarily have the level of data analysis offered by ADP, this isn't a concern for us now since we do not need to evaluate on this level as companies with hundreds or thousands of employees do. It's much more user-friendly, and when something needs to be changed/updated, it's much easier to get help than with ADP.
