Overall Satisfaction with Hotjar

Hotjar is used by our organisation on a periodic basis for reviewing the week's activity and seeing if any changes have occurred. It is predominantly used by marketing but our developers have found use for it too, to provide us with feedback and suggestions for improvements. Without Hotjar, we wouldn't be able to look at the statistics and decide what way to move the website forward. It provides a great tool to simply review performance and before making any changes, see the numbers behind what you want to change.

Pros

  • HotJar has a lot of statistics, and is something that you can definitely make use of when analysing your website. Just by seeing, for example, the number of visitors coming to a certain page, you can tell instantly if it's been a successful campaign or not.
  • The ability to run reports so you can look at comparison over time, which can lead to better judgement of what's working.
  • Video technology which is so in depth, it's quite scary. You can view a session your visitor has had and see where they've clicked on your website and what pages they've gone through to get to their destination page, all on your website. It's something we've never seen before!

Cons

  • With HotJar, whilst a lot of information is on there, it doesn't come with a go-to guide of what to do first and helping with set-up. This would definitely come in handy.
  • Having synchronisation with Google Analytics would be good - as in having a page that is just filled with GA stats. A lot of what both software do is similar so this would make sense.
  • Getting hints about what the best practices are would greatly benefit HotJar users and is something we all look for when researching about a product.
  • A positive on ROI is mainly down to seeing how our audience performs on our website. We can then tailor their experience next time round, giving them a reason to continue the Buyer Journey.
Hotjar is different in a sense that it allows some things we've not seen at all in any other product. The capability of recording sessions by our visitors is amazing and a tool we use often. Just seeing how audiences behave is so important nowadays so this is why we chose Hotjar, because it does everything we need it to do. It records stats, tells us which pages are working and what gets the most clicks. Plus you can run automated reports and never run out of ways to improve the website.
HotJar is important to have because it can tell you exactly how well your website is performing, by looking at individual landing pages or campaigns. Acting like Google Analytics, but with a lot more depth, HotJar is something that is necessary when analysing results. By looking at your website through the eyes of the audience, it allows you to see it from another perspective. This is very important for marketing users and can be vital when thinking about ways to improve the site.
