Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud File Storage
We are using IBM Cloud File Storage as a warm cache. We store newly created files there for a short period of time so that we can interact with them before sending them to object storage for more long term storage. We also store files there that we've pulled down from object storage (warm cache). Since it's a network storage device we simply mount it to our servers and it shows up as a disk on all of our servers. The fact that all of our servers can simultaneously access it is a nice feature.
- Shared file storage.
- Snapshots for backing up data.
- Easy to deploy.
- The IBM portal is clunky and prone to outages.
- Requires Linux experience to set up.
- They've had growing pains, which has resulted in outages.
- File storage saved us a lot of time getting the shared storage we needed.
We selected in mainly because we are already in IBM's ecosystem. Our entire business infrastructure is hosted with IBM.
