Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cognos

As a BI consultant, I have implemented the Cognos suite in many companies. It is a very good, stable tool. With a good design you can do wonders, KPIs that surprise the end users. In recent years the visual part has improved a lot. It is a tool that we have implemented across several areas.

Pros

  • Makes it easy to design reports
  • A wide range of functions and graphics for the definition and sample of KPIs
  • Continuous improvement

Cons

  • Dynamic cubes
  • Price
Cognos is a more stable tool, which is integrated to many others. It has a lot of experience in the market. Your support is very good. Many facilities in Argentina
Cognos connects to different databases. I have not had problems with its connectivity
Typified users, with defined permissions, that define the level of security.
Well suited
  • When looking for a corporate tool
  • Good management of reports
  • Scaling and integration with other tools, data sources.
Less appropriate:
  • When there is no integrated DW or database for data capture
  • Online reports with super reduced timing
