Overall Satisfaction with InMotion Hosting

We used InMotion in order to host our website and database resources. As a hosting solution, we found it affordable and much better than our previous hosting solution. It helped us scale our business while being able to reasonably meet the needs of our customers which was a big win initially, however the honeymoon period didn't last very long and we eventually faced a lot of hardships with our decision to use InMotion.

  • Positive: Issues we faced were responded to relatively quickly, making setup an easier process.
InMotion is great if you're looking for a quick dedicated hosting solution for your needs. It's great in terms of having fixed costs for your hosting needs. However it hits a ceiling once you grow past a certain point. That's where solutions like AWS and Azure are much better and reliable, but entirely depend on how quickly your service scales. With a pay-as-you-go solution, they're designed to help companies grow, but it can be difficult to project costs. They also provide a lot more actionable data that helps Dev ops move quickly in case of any unforeseen issues.
Their team was always responsive, helpful and eager to support us whenever we needed their help. Additionally, they followed up each time they supported us to see if the applied fixes to our problems satisfactorily resolved our issues. In all, their support was top notch.

Inmotion is a great resource if you have a relatively small user base and are just starting out. The support team is incredibly helpful and responsive as well. The prices are reasonable and quite affordable.

However if you have a larger set of users spread out globally, it may not be the right choice for you. The more our users grew, the more friction we began facing with our hosting service in terms of latency and uptime, even though we upgraded our plan with each milestone. In other words, sooner or later you may outgrow InMotion so keep that in mind before choosing it as your solution of choice.
