Overall Satisfaction with ISL Light

We use ISL Light two main ways: 1: Facilitate remote workers accessing their desktop pc when necessary. 2: Provide technical support via remote access.

Pros

  • Very simple to set up and train operators how to use
  • Connection process to remote computers easy and good selection of connection methods.
  • Application seems 'lighter' than other applications in terms of bandwidth requirements, so working in less than ideal coverage areas still possible.
  • Application support is excellent

Cons

  • File Transfer has never been the most intuitive feature
  • Direct customisation via ISL online account would be great
  • More detail of active sessions in cases where licence limit reached
  • Facilitated flexible working during lockdown, minimised productivity losses
  • Invaluable tool that has helped resolve IT issues remotely
  • Directly enables the implementation of flexible working policy
All staff who use ISL Light have been trained to use basic features of application in minutes. Although the application is feature rich, the interface is very clean and does not interfere with the main reason for use, remote desktop access.
I used LogMeIn Rescue for several years, and it has more features rich but is horrifically expensive compared to ISL Light, which was the main reason I changed. Chrome Remote Desktop must be viewed as a threat in the remote desktop application sphere. The features and usability are exceptional for a free resource. No centralised control features or monitoring, reporting makes it useful for individual use only.
