Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Jabber

We use Jabber for all of our internal employees, across all departments. It helps cut down on needless email and allows calls to be initiated and received easier. We also use it for quick and easy screen sharing.
  • It integrates with Active Directory, which helps in managing users.
  • It allows you to see who is available and set notifications for when they become available, which makes it easier to communicate without annoying the person on the other end.
  • It allows you to copy and paste phone numbers to initiate calls.
  • Presence issues are the norm with updates.
  • Updates have to be pushed out, instead of automatically contacting Cisco for availability.
  • It would be nice if WebEx and Jabber could work together, even if they are on different domains.
  • Increased productivity, as result of not having to wait for email, and faster dialing of phone numbers, as a result of being able to copy and paste phone numbers.
  • Microsoft Lync
I prefer Microsoft Lync, but we already have Jabber and the company invested in Cisco phones before I started.
I only think it makes sense to use Jabber if you've already invested in Cisco phones. I prefer the flexibility that Microsoft Lync offers, with regards to allowing you to use phones that they don't make.
