Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Jabber

Jabber is available for all domestic offices. It is optional software, but some departments use it as part of their standard operating procedures, and other departments do not use it at all. Some individuals use it for their specific needs (e.g. using the computer to take calls when working off site.)

Jabber allows our employees to work outside of the office much more seamlessly. They can stay connected and available through the flexible phone options. The integration with our phone system, and Outlook calendaring, showing a user's status (e.g. On a call, In a Meeting), avoids unnecessary interruptions. The chat feature frees up our Outlook Inbox from non-work related communications (e.g. "Are you free for lunch?").

  • Jabber provides flexible phone integration functionality. If you're connected from out of the office, you can answer calls from your computer, or IP Phone if you have one configured. The integration is seamless to the user.
  • The Chat feature is especially useful when you need to quickly ping your colleague. It's immediate, and has never shown a lag. I'd recommend using the Chat feature for non-work related communication.
  • The Status indicator is very useful. We use the integrations with our phone system and Outlook Calendar. If you use these features, you will always be able to tell if your colleague is available, in a meeting, on a call, or offline. No more unnecessary interruptions!!
  • It would be nice to have a chat clean-up utility readily available. You have to know where the data file is saved locally on the computer, and delete that data file, in order to clean-up the chat string.
  • Increased employee efficiency. Employees are more mobile than ever.
  • Better customer service. Employees are more readily available to communicate with clients.
  • Access to faster support. Users have a quick and easy to use chat tool to ping a colleague or support staff for help or answers.
  • cisco IP
Cisco IP phone feature works great for calls. It lacks in the other functions such as Status Indicator, Chat feature, and Calendar integration.
The Jabber phone integration should always be considered for use when working off site, so the user can take/place calls from their computer. A "team" should consider using Jabber for the Status indicator (at a minimum.) I recommend exiting Jabber prior to hosting a web meeting, where you'll share your computer. At a minimum be aware that a chat indicator will appear if someone sends you a chat during the call, and pay attention to your Jabber phone settings. I've seen a presentation where the Jabber phone dialog popped up on-screen during a presentation, because the presenter didn't change their phone settings.
