Overall Satisfaction with Jama Connect
Requirements Engineering with focus on Traceability of the product development documentation throughout the whole V-Model.
Pros
- Requirements Management in general
- Focus in the content without loosing the track of the evolution of the items by maintaining the exchange of information between the users inside the Tool.
- The possibilities to integrate this tool within our IT-landcape and with our other engineering tools is for us a leverage to success.
Cons
- The Reuse/Sync feature needs improvement to ensure wide use in the organization.
- Export/Import requirements in a large scale is a humbling experience with the tool, a lot of manual work is needed.
- Filter and Search features are too narrow in the scope and not efficient enough for a large organization.

Yes
- This is a flexible tool that can cover the need of the diverse Stakeholders in the different projects we have.
- That it is web based increases the acceptance because of low effort needed to reach the information.
- By using this tool customers have interest in getting them selves away from a Document centered development in to a more model/data base centered one.
- It is easier for every discipline group to think about repositories and libraries when all the information is in one place, ready to be used by the individual projects.
Having a tool that satisfies the needs of the development teams, we can focus in standardize the procedures and make more efficient the communication between the different disciplines. With such standards and methods we increase our development speed by maintaining or even excelling in the quality of our development.
There is an ideal we pursue and strive with incremental gains.
There is an ideal we pursue and strive with incremental gains.
These three topics are clearly the USP of Jama Connect, by bringing collaboration conversation and a review space inside the tool it make it easier and low effort to keep track on the evolution of the workproduct. The traceability features that Jama offers are today state-of-art, nevertheless I believe that the effort required to make sense of the data is very low in comparison with other tools.
There is however the chance to enhance the review center by making available the information given there into the 'normal' workingspace. Also a bit more of automation to guide the reviewers through the workflow of the items and viceversa would be worth improving.

Jama brings requirements engineering to the 21st century and sets up the bar to measure other tools. DOORS and DNG never managed to make this jump and stayed in the past.
