Overall Satisfaction with KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training

We were using the phish alert training modules after simulated phishing campaigns. Users who failed too many consecutive times were enrolled in additional learning. Phishing remains one of the biggest methods employed by hackers to try to gain access, and people who were not learning how to identify a phish email needed the additional training.

Pros

  • Quality: Their videos have well recorded audio and a polished look in their animations. I have seen larger orgs use less professional looking learning
  • Accuracy: I found no fault in the information they had in their training. It's clear that knowledgeable people were involved with the creation of their content
  • Accessible: Information security can be a very complex topic. They have made easily understood content, making it easier for the users to understand what they need to do

Cons

  • Some videos were clearly stitched together from other videos. Those lacked the cohesive feel the individual videos had.
  • Some videos could have brought in some additional points and information to cover a wider variety of user best practices
  • Some of the live actor segments felt a little cheesy
  • The campaign/training cycle showed a declining number of people falling for the campagins
  • Regularly updated training modules sometimes covered newer threats
  • Reporting was simple and easy to ingest for management
Different people will focus more on certain topics. Having content from different publishers gives a broader view of different topics. It's all a balancing act of number of training videos assigned, user attention, and the length of the training videos.
User management was pretty simple as it links pretty nicely with Active Directory. Most users need just the bare basic access, needed to view the training modules. Adding admin rights to IT personnel is simple. User management was largely automated with the AD connection.
I think the most important metric was the number of users falling for phishing campaigns. Following quickly behind that was the number of high level people who also failed the campaigns. There were a number of reports, and for training, you could see how many people were assigned a course and their completion rates.
It was easy to use, both from the administration and user sides. It took very little time for me to learn how to use the platform on my own and KnowBe4 was happy to show me even more interesting features I had not explored yet. Users never had an issue accessing content, with the only issue being users not actually acknowledging they were assigned learning and not reading the emails.

Yes

Would you buy KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training again?

The way you can automate the enrollment to a course for people who fail simulated phishing campaigns is awesome. The content is also super relevant for this purpose. People are still unlikely to migrate their eLearning platform to KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training. Some specialized learning is needed based on organization and more generalized learning available might have superior competing content on another platform. You might consider making a way for organizations create their own content and load it in for their own use.
