Overall Satisfaction with Laserfiche

Collin County uses Laserfiche as our enterprise content management system. We use Laserfiche for the scanning/retrieval of documents, automation of our physical document inventory and records retention. Most of our County departments are using Laserfiche. Most of our users are amazed on how quickly their documents are retrieved. It takes five minutes to file or scan a document - it take Laserfiche five seconds to retrieve that document versus ten minutes to an hour the old way.
  • As a local government, Collin County selected Laserfiche because it was the best product to meet our State's retention requirements for government records.
  • Laserfiche has rich variety of template structures that index records in a convenient and efficient manner. Many of our users are pleased that they can search for documents with special index items or simple work searches.
  • Laserfiche has a wonderful SDK (Software Development Kit). Our application developers can manipulate Laserfiche to our liking via the SDK. We have been able to share historic documents online with our citizens via the SDK. Genealogist are delighted.
  • Laserfiche replaced IBM FileNet Content Manager in Collin County, TX.
  • Laserfiche could revisit their licensing model. Our agency enjoys delivering our government documents to our citizens. We've had to reorganize our repository structure to take advantage of Laserfiche Portal. We'd like to have an internal and external portal. However, this solution is not cost effective.
  • We originally purchased Laserfiche to solve our retention issues. We learned very quickly that our users enjoyed the speed and ease of use of the Laserfiche product. Document retention became an afterthought.
  • We let our existing users on-board other departments. Instead of lengthy interviews, departmental needs assessments and outreach, we would typically receive departmental requests to on-board Laserfiche. Our customers are our best sales staff.
  • We actually have a ROI tool that compares physical document retrieval (staff time, location, delivery time) to Laserfiche retrieval. The outcomes are time saved in dollars. We used this tool to support funding for a few high-end scanners for our Tax Department.
Laserfiche solved our original government document retention concerns. Collin County has integrated Laserfiche retention rules with our Criminal Integrated Justice System for closed cases. We have also integrated Laserfiche with our Property Tax System. We are able to process and deposit tax checks within hours instead of days. The process alone has earned Collin County several million dollars in interest.
If document retention is important then Laserfiche is an ideal product. We also like that our developers can write/call components of Laserfiche via the SDK. We are also building thoughtful workflows for our customers. We hope to use Laserfiche Forms to build a robust Building Permitting system online for the convenience to our citizenry.

Using Laserfiche

200 - We have Laserfiche users from across the enterprise (Courts, DA, Tax office, Auditor's, IT, Medical Examiner, Jail, Development Services, Animal Shelter)
We have a very good relationship with Laserfiche and our VAR (MCCi). We see no reason to consider a new product when Laserfiche meets all of our needs.

Laserfiche Implementation

Change management was a major issue with the implementation - People had to think beyond how they worked in the past. They had to change their approach to business and how they server the public. Going paperless was a major leap for most of our Laserfiche users.

Laserfiche is intuitive with many features for us to use.

Laserfiche Reliability

I am very satisfied with Laserfiche. I have found that certain larger jobs may are slow. This may also be related to our infrastructure environment. We have been able to tune Laserfiche to increase performance on larger jobs.
