Overall Satisfaction with Magento
We are using Magento enterprise for our fashion stores all around the world. It is used by all organization for every aspect of the eCommerce. We are only using an external service for printing labels and to connect with carriers. Stocks, emails, and management is completely done within Magento.
- Stock management (if implemented with custom fields for location).
- Transactional emails. Really well done and easy to config.
- Access to data and accountancy.
- Difficulty in creating plugin from scratch.
- Difficulty to implement external technology (like ReactJS).
- Out of the box stock management could be improved.
- We could reduce the number of services we had, using almost a single platform for doing everything we need (except printing labels for shipping and high level accountancy).
- It results in a cheaper management, but we increment the hours of development for custom features.
A lot of competitors are claiming they can do the same thing that Magento can do. I think it isn't true. PrestaShop and WooCommerce are not good enough to be used instead of Magento. They do not have the necessary scalability and caching system that Magento has. The only system that maybe could compete with Magento is Oracle Commerce but you need to pay a lot for the licenses, and for the development you need a java specialist and not a web developer. This could cost a lot more, at least in the UK.
