We started using Mattermost almost 14 months ago and it has changed the way we communicate between teams and departments. It allows us to collaborate in a better way. We are able to find use all the other features for Project Management and linking to GitLab and Jira for development related activities.

Open Source Platform

Yes, since Mattermost is an open source platform, we are able to tweak the code to our requirements. We are now able to host it on both our AWS and AZURE servers and we are also able to configure it for On-Prem situations. The central communication channels could easily be secured and SSO + encryption was enabled in a matter of days.

Ease of Integration

To start with, the integration was easy and did not require complex codes. We were able to integrate Visual Studio and service now and link them to allow change requests and automatic workflows to be processed. Since it supports AGILE processes it improved our DevOps team productivity and gives us real time script insights.

We can use Mattermost for effective Project Management. There are multiple channels that one can create for each project. We can share project specific files and also assign tasks to individuals. The Task tracking feature comes in very handy as well. Since we can directly integrate apps like Gitlab, Github and Jenkins, getting multiple developer and Operations Teams to work on a single module is easy.
