Overall Satisfaction with Mattermost

Our operation had employees and freelancing contractors and we used Mattermost to facilitated the communication while restricting the freelancers' access to some specific information and groups. I didn't have access to the product on an admin level, but it was clear to everyone that it came as an easier option to set up.

It greatly improved our risk exposure. We managed a large user database with sensitive data, freelance contractors who needed to easily access and discuss said data but only a specific part of it so we needed full control over who could access what and self hosting the communication platform really helped.
The integration was key to us and that’s why I rated it an 8. The integration with tools like Jira and Grafana was the most useful for us. Also, the comprehensive documentation and support resources really smooths the process. Despite that, some integrations might require technical expertise, and there may be occasional gaps with niche tools, and that’s why it wasn’t a 10.
Unlike Slack and Discord, Mattermost is self-hosted and focused on security. I used Discord before for community management and much simpler and less secure operations. Slack is great, but the fact that is cloud based takes out a lot of its independence.

I used Mattermost on a full remote company and it perfectly suited our collaboration and communication culture. The company dealt with privileged and personal information of a huge data base of users, so it was a significant advantage for our need to comply with industry regulations.

Using Mattermost

12 - We had a team of 15-25 people using it, including the CEO, Project Analyst Senior, Project Analyst Junior, Marketing Analyst, Research Analyst, Data Analyst and Research freelancers. The main challenge was the security of the researching data that was discussed and used.
We didn't have a specific person specialized in Mattermost, but our data analyst was responsible for all the integration between Jira, Airtable, and all other services, so he naturally became the one who took care of it.
