Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365)

Microsoft 365 is being used by our entire organization. All of the employees use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Outlook, and Teams. It solves our communication and productivity problems rather well. Each individual productivity product has its own quirks, however for the most part, I do not feel like we would be able to have the entire enterprise switch to a platform such as Google, as folks are so used to using Microsoft.
  • Microsoft Teams is my favorite online communication tool because it allows for customization within the channels and is a great way to quickly communicate across the entire organization and get everyone out of their inboxes.
  • Connectivity - I enjoy the phone application options for the productivity products. Having Teams and Outlook on my phone means I'm able to quickly reply to messages when I've stepped away from my desk.
  • Security - there are a lot of security options that Microsoft 365 offers and I feel as though our IT department has incorporated these features and my entire account is secure.
  • Sharing with OneDrive can be confusing for people that haven't used online file systems before. Sometimes they don't know where the file went and have a hard time determining if it was saved online or if it was saved on their pc.
  • Phone apps could be customized further - for example; turning off notifications when you're out of the office
  • Fix the image problems with Word. It's very difficult to move photos around without the entire page rotating. This has been a known problem forever.
  • Show image previews for mp4s in Teams
  • Be able to group different threads within a channel in Teams
  • Communication
  • Productivity
  • Security
  • Collaboration
  • Scheduling
  • I'd say there's been a positive ROI since folks are able to properly do their jobs!
  • There was a learning curve during the transition to working remotely with folks not understanding how Microsoft Teams worked, however we are now over that hump. If Teams didn't exist during COVID-19, I'm not sure how we would have continued being productive.
  • I'm sure the security aspect comes into play quite often regarding a positive impact on ROI.
  • Google Workspace (formerly G Suite)
I actually prefer Google Workspace over Microsoft 365. However, Microsoft 365 is a reliable solution that almost everyone knows how to easily navigate. That's why it's used in government and other large corporations. It's always going to be there - and the navigation/layout does not change often, so it's easy for folks to update their software and continue knowing how to use it.

Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), Google Tag Manager
If a colleague asked me if I preferred Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, I'd say Google Workspace. However, it depends on the colleague's future use of the product for which I'd recommend. If it's a smaller business with younger employees, I'd recommend Google. If it's a larger company with a wide age range of employees, I'd recommend Microsoft 365.
