Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Power BI

We use Microsoft Power BI to create highly customizable reports both embedded within applications as well as to provide to internal consumers in other departments. This means end users can view reports on their consumption within our applications, and departments like Finance or Marketing can view and slice metrics however they like without the need for further developer assistance.

Pros

  • Takes the developer out of the equation once delivered.
  • Easy creation of charts or graphs
  • Powerful sorting, filtering, grouping options available off the shelf

Cons

  • There are times where setting up the data connection can be frustrating, depending on the source.
  • Using Microsoft Power BI has freed up developer time to complete other projects
Been building reports for web and internal use for over 2 decades. Microsoft Power BI makes a dev team look fantastic with a fraction of the effort this used to require. We can do a better job much more quickly with Microsoft Power BI than we could by hand.

We needed to create a report for an internal team that operates on a workflow. They needed to be able to filter, sort, slice their data and we needed to not devote a developer to them every time they wanted a variation of the existing report. Microsoft Power BI has all these powerful customization options baked in.
