Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Power BI

Mainly a group of middle management officials are using Power BI to optimize certain KPIs across and deep dive of the data across business segments. We have used direct query approach to get the insights of data and analyze the business performance in real time.There are certain business problems is being addressed by using Power BI such as Consolidation and reconciliation : Getting data consolidated across the sources was the biggest challenge, using Power BI data processing capabilities provides a single platform to integrate the data from multiple sources. Real-time reporting: using a direct query approach provides real insights of the data which eliminates the dependencies on the back end team/processes.There are scope of en digest the tool in areas such as Operations, Supply Chain, Sales & Marketing and Financial Analysis.

Pros

  • Consolidates the data from various sources
  • Provides excellent and wide prompting options to narrow down the data search
  • Integrate the visualizations to an external website (Embedding)

Cons

  • Direct uploading of the external file and combine the external data with the existing data module
  • Performance improvements while using a large dataset.
  • Enable to use custom visualization (External sources)
  • AI promoting and auto generation of the visualization
  • Power BI usage reduced the effort of analytical reports creation by about 80%
  • Empowered all the level of employee to be more vigilant of the data and business insights, gained the profit of 8% overall.
  • AI-powered predictive analytics improved forecasting accuracy by 17%, that topped the overall sales.
Overall Power BI is a great addition to an organization, However, there are lots of room for significant improvements, some of them are 1. Provide more flexibility in the advance reporting. 2. A tool must be a platform-independent. 3. Desktop tools should be available on the web browser to provide more accessibility.
Some of the strengths are 1. User-Friendliness 2. Self-Service BI (Caters to all levels of the employees 3. Cost-effective. 4. Easy integration with Microsoft Suits. 5. DAX Calculations 6. Familiar Interface like traditional Excel. 7. Easier Self-Service platform for non-technical users.

Some of the features are well suited such as 1. Real-time data visualization (Direct Query). 2. Collaborate with data from various sources. 3. Drill-through capabilities and options. 4. Standard schedules to export, refresh the data, and visualization Few scenarios where is it less appropriate such as 1. Limitation using visual calculation (Unable to export the data) 2. Not available for MacOS users.
