Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Project
Our department has previously used Microsoft Project to monitor our routine security audits as well as planning the opening of new sites. From our experience we found MS Project best suited for large scale and complex projects rather than spreadsheet style task management tools. Opening a new building is a great type of project for MS Project structure to manage.
Pros
- Big picture view.
- Gantt timeline view.
- Collaboration with MS Teams.
Cons
- Integrating with non-MS collaboration tools.
- It get more functionality it can become expensive.
- More visualization tools to analyze trends.
- Ultimately our organization found the cost prohibitive.
- It allowed for scheduling timeline for large scale projects.
- It allowed for large scale document collaboration and sharing.
Microsoft Project was the most expensive project management software that we utilized aside from the costs associated with developing and in-house service. Microsoft Project provide a wealth of features for managing a large scale project like planning all of the tasks associated with opening an office building. It provided too many features and functionally to be cost effective for small and routine tasks. In addition it was more difficult to incorporate documents from some sources including Google or other services.
