Mimecast Advanced Email Security
Overall Satisfaction with Mimecast Advanced Email Security
We use Mimecast Advanced Email Security as our front-end security for our 365 tenant. While 365 does offer security functionality it is rudimentary at best leaving you to configure and set up majority of the policies in order to be of any use. We didn't find this sustainable with email being a primary target for malicious actors. Mimecast Advanced Email Security offers a robust system that monitors every email both inbound and outbound for any malicious nature. They replace url links so when users click them it is first opened and scanned by Mimecast Advanced Email Security in their environment prior to the user gaining access. This has already saved us more than once.
Pros
- URL Scanning to prevent malicious links from being opened.
- Notifies users of emails that have been blocked and gives them some self-serve options to allow or block them pending certain criteria.
- Very easy to use interface for admin management.
- Uptime of their system has been phenomenal.
Cons
- I'd like to see some AI analytics for trends that are hard to see in reporting.
- I miss the tabbed interface to easily bounce between different sections. Would be nice to have the option. For now, I just open a bunch of browser tabs.
- Mimecast Advanced Email Security continues to catch new threats as they come out. This is a big deal for us as we have experienced ransomware in the past which came through an email via a malware that wasn't detected by our previous email security system. That event is what spurred us to invest in Mimecast to keep these threats out.
- URL Threat protection is another amazing feature as it scans every link sent even links you receive regularly for compromised websites.
- Having Mimecast Advanced Email Security has allowed us to focus our IT resources on other threat areas improving our company's overall threat resilience.
Migration to Mimecast Advanced Email Security was indeed an easy to switch guided cut over. We came from Netmail Security Suite which had met our needs for many years prior. It was actually a two-part switch as we also switched email platforms which cascaded into acquiring Mimecast Advanced Email Security. We were using Groupwise in junction with Netmail Security. We then switched to 365 which we quickly realized didn't offer natively the email security we were looking for.
Mimecast Advanced Email Security had a large impact on our company when compared to our previous system as it brought many new features such as the URL protection along with a more proactive threat protection database catching new threats quicker.
