Overall Satisfaction with Mimecast Cloud Archive

Long-term email archive, Mimecast allowed staff to keep all emails in the vault while being able to reduce their live mailbox size. This has also helped for auditing and legal reasons, being able to produce proof of emails in their original format. I also took advantage of the Exchange M365 cloud Backup tool, which allows mailboxes to be granularly restored.

  • Reduce M365 total email storage with the use of Mimecast and retention policies.
  • It paid for itself in one use case where a supplier paid the money to the wrong account and had access to the secure email archive. Able to prove how the emails looked when leaving our organization, which meant we were able to claim the money back.
  • Fast and easy interface to be able to search for items. The tool built into Outlook allows users to have direct and easy access, saving time.
  • Reduce IT support effort and risk due to not having to manage PST files for users.
The product is designed well, is cloud-based, and no on-pre infrastructure is needed. Easy deployment of the Outlook add-in allows users to gain integrated access to their archive directly from the Outlook application. The admin console gives access to all areas with easy navigation and helpful articles when needed. Strong community support and decent technical support.
Microsoft Outlook add-in could do with a few minor improvements, but searches are very fast. The only problem is that when you search the archive, it will only display 25 messages per screen. Then, as you scroll, it takes a little time to load the next 25 items. This can be a little slow when trying to search many results.
I have used this product for over 2 years and have never had a single outage. Their SLA for uptime is excellent.
Mimecast gave us some extra features that we believed were beneficial to our business. Removing the archive from the Microsoft hardware was also good to allow separation. Plus, adding the optional exchange backup made Mimecast a clear choice.

This is for any business that needs secure, tamper-resistant, long-term email storage. Mimecast cloud archive is the answer. Easy self-service user interface, Admin interface is generally pretty usable as well with a good level of granular permissions for delegation to support staff. It allows cost savings with email storage by implementing retention policies and offloading the storage to Mimecast.
