Overall Satisfaction with Miro

I have used Miro for organizing online workshops in a project, where multiple stakeholders participated (10-15 different organizations). I used one of the templates and developed it for the project needs, and it helped to direct the discussion, take it in logical stages and visualize the results immediately. Recently, I've also used it for working with people in a teaching situation, where we brought together our ideas and created a nice visual summary of our teamwork.
  • Real-time collaboration, brainstorming.
  • The choice of templates is excellent and gives an idea of how Miro could be used in other ways.
  • Easy sharing with people outside my organization.
  • Scrolling, activating elements was difficult for some participants.
  • Frames option: I don't like that the frames are so visible even in presentation mode.
  • Less time to prepare for an online workshop and recording the results.
It was a bit confusing in our organization which Teams in Miro were created and why many people could access the folders that they were not supposed to. But then I just created a personal educational account, where I was sure that I can keep my canvases private and share only when I need to and with a selected group of people.
There are many options for integration, which I still need to learn. I tried integrating it in MS Teams and into the Teams meetings directly, but was not sure how well it will work e.g. to use Miro board directly in Teams rather than in a browser and just share the screen. The space looked a bit too small for my purposes.
Definitely, I would even prefer online workshops to real ones, if the purpose is not to network but to really create some knowledge together. You can get much more data within the same period of time and it gets recorded at the same time.

  • MURAL (formerly Mural.ly)
Mural did not look as fancy, looks like a simpler tool for quick collaboration online.
Miro is good for working in online mode with several people, for collecting data and organizing it. There are more specific ways to use it, e.g. to track the progress of a project or design a process - using templates or making your own layout. I also found it useful just to visualize some things and share with others - better than e.g. PowerPoint. Could also be used for own brainstorming. To conclude, it is mainly a collaboration tool, but can also be used for mind mapping.
