Overall Satisfaction with Miro

We use Miro to gather and share our thoughts in a visual format - as well as a place to keep ideas that are still in the forming & refinement stages, before they're ready for a polished presentation. We also use it to facilitate certain workshops, especially at scale when there are many participants so that voting is streamlined and idea capture is higher fidelity compared to relying on note-takers or a recording which people often do not go back and watch.

Pros

  • Miro is very flexible in how you choose to display ideas and concepts
  • Miro's default capabilities (mindmap, sticky notes, etc) are sufficient for a majority of uses
  • Miro is clearly innovating quickly and releasing new features rapidly

Cons

  • Some use cases, like swimlane process diagramming, is clunky. For such a common process map style, I'd expect lanes to auto-size to the process I'm mapping as well as a capability to tag steps to a team and have them automatically organized into lanes
  • The scale of things can differ drastically. Miro doesn't seem to sense the size at which I've created other objects, and when adding default objects they are the default size rather than the same size as other objects I'm working with
  • Miro isn't always friendly to share with others in a low-context way, like I could send a presentation. I feel like I need to explain my setup and thought process and walk someone through a board - perhaps it's just my lack of organisation on the boards but I feel like I want to keep them to myself as they 'aren't ready for public consumption'
  • I see Miro as a nice-to-have but it's difficult to tie it back materially to any specific ROI
We have not integrated Miro as it does not integrate with Wrike.
Miro is not suitable for project execution or collaboration - it lacks all the hallmarks of a tool that manages work complexity. That said, it is useful when brainstorming new project ideas or refining those ideas to ensure that the projects we do work on are thought through and of real value.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

Miro is fantastic if you are a visual thinker, or work with others who benefit from visual presentation. It's also worth a try for team summits, discussions, and brainstorming. However, I would not use it to create action items unless porting them into a work management tool (e.g. Wrike) as there is very limited capacity to assign actions to people, assign due dates, etc. That is a risk you run when using a tool like Miro - it can create a million great ideas but doesn't bridge into the reality of day-to-day execution.
