Overall Satisfaction with Miro

My UX design consultant team used it to map out our ideas and to synthesize our research. The business wanted our help in improving their community section of their app, and we wanted to create better user engagement and increase user retention. We were able to focus on creating community features that were not already done by the business, and to improve the user experience of users on the app currently by adding features they were either already familiar with or paired well with other sections of the app. Miro was super helpful because it helped my team collaboratively, whether in real time or at different times, and really helped us map out important different ideas efficiently. We used our Miro files several times to present to the stakeholders and they were very pleased with the quality and level of our research to the point that they used our work as an example to the other team! Miro helped us do that efficiently and elegantly all in one place.

Pros

  • Different templates helped us create brainstorming maps with efficiency and customization.
  • The different elements (stickies, shapes, fonts, connections, etc) helped us to create a diverse and unique set of images and charts to portray our ideas flawlessly.
  • The ability for several people to collaborate at the same time with labeled cursors was an important touch for our video calls because it made working remotely very efficient.

Cons

  • Sometimes the connectors can act funny for some reason.
  • I’d like some more templates please!
  • More pages in the freemium version would be great too.
  • It’s helped convey our research so efficiently that the stakeholders gave us more leeway and trust in our design decisions.
  • It helped created professional charts and mind maps that we will use in our case studies.
  • It helped bring out deeper levels of secondary research and design directions that we would not have been able to do as a team had we not used Miro.
Miro is easy to use with Google Meet, but can be clunky sometimes with slower internet speeds. It does work more easily separately from Google Meet when I am using it in my computers browser, which is what I usually do. I haven’t tried Miro with other platforms. I’ve only tried it this way.
It’s been very positive. I can only say good things about it. For something that is meant to be a collaborative white board, it does exactly what it says it’s meant to do. I prefer it for its easy organization and options. I also like the cursors that show different users in the whiteboard at the same time. This is helpful with moving around and expressing different opinions in real time.

Yes

Miro is more ideal collaboration of ideas than Figma because it has pre-shaped elements that are easy to use for quick iterations of charts, mind maps, etc. Figma is better for collaborative and iterative designs. I prefer Miro for creating synthesized research pieces that I can share easily with others.
Miro is great for personal brainstorming of ideas in an unrestricted visual plane layout. It’s also very, very beneficial for teams working remotely and in real time. I’m currently working with a team remotely and Miro is the only platform we like to use because of its layout. The color and elements help us flesh out ideas and concepts easily without too much work. It’s intuitive to use.
