Overall Satisfaction with Miro

My team uses Miro for brainstorming ideas of various kinds. For example, we outline processes and brainstorm ways to make them more efficient. We also use Miro as Visual management of product backlogs to share with other teams. I've used it personally to outline goals. Additionally, it helps me to write down and connect my own personal ideas about work situations and product capabilities.
  • Zooming in and out is very helpful. It's pretty smooth.
  • Quick duplication of sticky notes is very useful.
  • Having templates of the most common workflows and processes is super useful to get started quickly.
  • Sometimes the text inside sticky notes is very small, it's hard to read.
  • It would be great to preserve the board layout and functionality when offline, such as when taking a flight. Load the board before the flight, keep working during the flight, then update it when the connection gets restored, instead of losing sync and functionality when internet connectivity is not available.
  • It would be helpful to denote progress on a board with some sort of recommended flow. Instead of having to depend on the user adding new inputs to the right of previous work, if Miro detects inputs to the board happening to the left or above existing work, ask if you'd like to add it to the right.
  • Also, it could be that you could replay a "video" or animation of the board (zoomed out) showing the order in which content has been added to the board over time.
  • We're able to collaborate remotely as if we had a big wall with a lot of sticky notes, avoiding costly travel to offsite locations. ($350 per day)
  • Meetings flow more efficiently when we use the timer, helping us to stick to the meeting agenda and avoiding distractions.
  • We can save our work and return to it, without having to refer to a picture of a whiteboard that is hard to read. This saves us from confusion and helps to keep collaboration going.
Miro has been instrumental in remote collaboration. Our remote colleagues have greatly benefited from the real-time updates to the board. Participation and engagement in collaborative work is high, thanks to the multiple tools and templates available in Miro. Even asynchronous access to the board serves the team well, as colleagues in other time zones who can't attend meetings during our workday can update the board during their work hours.
I have not used any competitors' products.

Miro's infinite canvas and sticky notes functionality make it ideal for brainstorming ideas, contributing thoughts and organizing them visually in real-time.Software teams use Miro to manage sprints, backlogs, and stand-ups, visualizing tasks and progress. We use it for sprint planning, retrospectives, and kanban boards.Miro is well suited for user journey maps, facilitating collaboration between designers, product managers, and developers. We've also used it for strategy planning and workshops: mapping out strategies, SWOT analysis, and plan projects. It's useful for visualizing goals, actions, and timelines. Also, we use it to organize research findings, synthesize user insights, and map out data visually, helping in the analysis and decision-making process.

Less appropriate scenarios for Miro include working with Text Documents; doing High-Fidelity Prototyping and interactive prototypes that require detailed user interactions; and working with large datasets & calculations.
We don't use Miro to replace the polished, slide-based presentations created in PowerPoint.
Also, we need to be very careful with confidential information.
