Overall Satisfaction with Miro

As an organisation, we use Miro for all of our white boarding, and brainstorming research use cases, from kicking off a product project, understanding user problems, solving complex system problems or just collating feedback and assets. Its versatility means that it can be used for any use case that would have once required a group of people to get into a room and in front of a whiteboard, which has become especially useful in a world of hybrid and remote working. This flexibility that Miro offers, has enabled us to work across time zones, with colleagues based on another continent as easy as if we were all in a room together.

Pros

  • Brainstorming with post it notes
  • Diagramming for user journeys
  • Presenting large amounts of research

Cons

  • Wire-framing could be improved, the set of core elements are not very customisable, and I find creating a wireframe in miro to be quite time consuming compared to using components in Figma
  • More organisation of the home area would be good, Although I like the ability to filter it to what I have created, I think more flexibility in being able to organise my content would be good
  • Better search capability, to find things that are buried within a board
  • Reduced the time required for collaborative research and documentation
  • Assisted in building alignment across colleagues and departments
  • Reduced conflict and disagreement within the organisation due to the sharing of documentation and resources
Although I have not used many in platform integration, I really appreciate being able to embed a miro board into other platforms. If I had a need to use an integration within the platform, I am sure I would find it easy enough as I have seen the marketplace and like that apps can be used for specific requirements.
It has enabled us to work with people all over the world as if we were in the same room, and has gone on to replace all whiteboarding activities within the business due to the fact that at the end of a session, all of the work created can be kept. Gone are the days of having hundreds of photos of postit not sessions on your phone.

We regularly use Miro as a collaborative platform to research and brainstorm new ideas, and the voting feature is greatly appreciated.
Each of these other applications have a specific function, to brainstorm an idea, to hold a retrospective session, or to document work in an internal wiki, we have found that Miro is more versatile as a tool, and can be used for any use case where information is needed to be gathered, documented and actioned.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

I would recommend miro to anyone who has a requirement to document research, it is so good for this! The things I feel miro aren't as good at, such as creating documents due to its freeform factor, would be instances where I could not recommend the product.

However, I think tools are best used in combination, and its great that Miro boards can be embedded into the likes of Notion, so that they can live alongside other files such as Figma files with product specs.
