Overall Satisfaction with Miro

I work for a game company designing products to work well physically and digitally. We use Miro to organize our product design and to coordinate our international team. The ability to make write-ups, link articles, and collage images allows us to iterate our ideas rapidly.

The organization tools for timelines and kanban are useful, but sometimes do not work exactly as you think. The tools are functional, but they do not give you all the options that you want.

The visual context of Miro is its greatest strength. Being able to align elements alongside writeups creates clear communication. Really great tool for creative teams.

Pros

  • Asynchronous communication and presentation
  • Visual Workspace
  • Graphic design tools
  • Export to PDF (High Quality is paid only)

Cons

  • Element Interaction (bubbles, arrows, shapes)
  • Tables
  • No dark mode
  • Improved communication and presentation across teams
  • Allows for more rapid integration of new ideas
  • Better documentation/version history tracking
Does not integrate with some of the most popular word processing/spreadsheet software, so it is not possible to present live, synchronized information easily. It also makes it so that you cannot use Miro as a direct depository. You can link specific web links but it does not preview much information on Miro itself, so it breaks the workflow to redirect to other websites and/or alternating between tabs, etc.
Miro is essential to coordinating our international team and bring in fresh eyes from all over the world. The ability to leave comments, work asynchronously, and use tools like private mode are core to how are team functions. It is simultaneously our primary work space and presentation board. Our team is fully remote and works across 4-6 time zones.
Miro is the best product out of these options for collaborative brainstorming and presentation. Miro has the best organization tools when it comes to tables, kanban, etc. all in one place alongside a visual workboard. Each of these products beats Miro at specific aspects, but Miro is the best overall product for simultaneously and asynchronously coordinating a creative project with a medium sized team.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

No

Well suited for creative work and organizing. Lets you brainstorm writing alongside images, build timelines, and share with collaborators. I have even used Miro to outline playtest documents, exporting them using the 'export to PDF' function.

That being said, Miro does not have the same functionality as some of the popular graphic design software or websites, but it is easier to see the layout of a multiple page document and organize sections together before laying them out in graphic editing/layout software.
