Overall Satisfaction with Miro

I am a product manager, and I use Miro on a daily basis for multiple purposes. Including, running workshops, retros, a personal brainstorming board and note taking, as well as creating product strategies. I go to Miro instead of my other tools because of the flexibility all in one space, especially for any strategy work, I may go from needing just to take notes, creating diagrams and process maps, and to creating a delivery board view. All whilst this is easily shareable and contributable to other members of my team in both hybrid and fully online situations

Pros

  • Sharing with other contributors, features that make live online interactions easy like follow me and voting
  • Diagramming capabilities - simple and easy to use notes, arrows, boxes that all help to pull together a quick view
  • Customisability - from size of the boards, to including more rigid templates/tables, to allowing for free diagramming

Cons

  • Findability - I use a single brain dump board that captures a lot of my thought, i create boards and try to group them but sometimes it's difficult to go back to find exactly what i'm looking for, using search can help but often i repeat similar words so search is still difficult
  • Could benefit from auto spacing items on a board to make things look neater, sometimes overall it can be quite chaotic of a view if things aren't purposefully set in an ordered way by the user
  • Some of the delivery views are difficult and fiddly to use, so I just abandon and pull together my own view manually with some of the basic diagram tools
  • Overall improved productivity by not having to switch across different platform sand tools
  • Helps with project delivery, we use Miro to collaborate on different timelines across different teams - easy to share back and manipulate
  • Reduced software needs by sticking in one place
I think once you start getting the hang of it, it really is easy to use. Overall, it does still require some learning curve as most new things do. It can be overwhelming for someone new to Miro as there are so many features, and discoverability of these features can be difficult. For example, there have been times when I have seen someone else do something on Miro, and i've learnt from seeing them doing it - but without that experience, I would have never known the feature had existed
Sticky notes and versatility around it. I'll use the sticky notes to take notes in meetings and workshops, which then allow for easy grouping into themes. I'll also use it to annotate images or other things, colour coding to differentiate the areas of importance etc. And i'll also use the sticky notes to make simple and quick diagrams, process flows and maps
For presentation packs, I'll still be required to use google slides - but now i do all of my planning on Miro, especially early stages to map things out. Because sometimes there's so many edits and changes required to refine the look. As a non-technical PM, i don't use lucid chart, but instead use Miro as a simple diagramming tool as a first step. And now I note take in Miro instead of google docs etc.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

Workshopping in a hybrid and online environment is probably the easiest with Miro - i've held multiple workshops using Miro and the collaborative and live nature of it makes it very similar to an inperson experience. Small features like hiding the writing on sticky notes whilst people are brainstorming also surprisingly make a big difference to encouraging people to participate
