Overall Satisfaction with MS SharePoint / SQL

SharePoint is used in our organization to facilitate collaboration on the production of technical reports that will be made available to the public. It is a very effective tool for our technical report preparation and allows various teams to seamlessly contribute by marking up the documents from any platform. Office Online Server is used in conjunction with SharePoint naming the overall package a winner.

Pros

  • The collaboration of Technical Reports.
  • Has a good search feature.
  • Ease of posting content.

Cons

  • Updates can be tricky to apply.
  • Implementation is difficult.
  • It is hard to find good SharePoint consultants at reasonable rates.
Collaboration among teams is a good use case. This is the primary usage within our organization. It is easy for the teams of varied skill levels to make edits to ongoing technical reports easily. With the integration of Office Online Server, it allows any platform to support the Office Suite of products to make edits on the documents posted to SharePoint. A use case that is less compelling involves the records management. While the basics are provided, in order to facilitate the disposition and destruction of company records third-party software is required. This adds another layer of complexity.
