Nintex Workflow for Office365

Overall Satisfaction with Nintex Platform

Nintex for O365 is used by all users of the company. As Nintex is a codeless platform to develop workflows, everyone finds it easy to develop simple to complex workflows in a short span of time without engaging a dedicated developer. Nintex is used to address some of the common use cases in everyday working like multi level document and process approvals, lazy approval, automating processes like SharePoint site provisioning and some common admin tasks like adding users to a site based on approval.
  • Codeless platform : The end user does not need to be a developer to develop Nintex workflows. The easy drag and drop on the canvas feature makes it easy for all novices and experts to develop Nintex workflow
  • Easy to migrate from one environment to another : Easy to migrate the workflow from a dev site to the production site. Just export and import the Nintex workflow templates
  • Great vendor support : I have seen quick turnaround on all my support enquiries with Nintex. The support team offers friendly advise on steps to be taken to solve the workflow issue that was raised with them.
  • Wide range of SaaS connectors and Actions : Nintex covers most of the SaaS connectors that Enterprise(s) use and it is easy to develop a workflow that spans multiple platforms. ( all without writing any code )
  • Good Online Help on actions : The documentation is good enough for a new user to start using the actions.
  • Provide UI cues to the user in case the user develops a long running workflow ( based on the number of actions ) that can stop working on the Microsoft Workflow Manager Service on O365.
  • Provide simple user recipe's to develop workflows based of a template that over some of the common use cases.
  • Add native support for workflow status as they execute or pause due to any errors.
  • Reduction in paper-based approval processes with Nintex-based workflows with mobile support.
  • Easy to design forms to customize the native SPO list forms.
  • The workflow throttles on O365 can slow down overall workflow execution giving the end users a feel that the Nintex workflow is not working well. This creates a negative impact for Nintex on O365 in cases where the workflows are lengthy/complex.
We use Nintex with O365. This offers the flexibility to not maintain Nintex installations and get regular updates from Nintex on the Cloud.
Microsoft Flow and Azure logic apps : These new and cool apps are gaining on Nintex and provide most of the features to end users that Nintex provides. They run on a different workflow engine and do not have most of the limitations of the workflow manager service.
Microsoft PowerApps for Forms : Provides most of the features and is matching Nintex forms in the features provided.
1. Well suited for simple approval workflows.
2. Not suited for complex requirements where the workflow logic spans into more than 60+ actions. This will make developing, debugging difficult and also introduce errors due to runtime limitations of the Workflow manger service on O365
