Overall Satisfaction with Notion

Notion is primarily used for personal note taking and documentation. This could be for meeting minutes, project planning or just general day to day notes. Typically mostly for things that don't require formal documentation that is to be distributed.
It is easily accessible across various devices (desktop/ mobile), which makes it ideal for moments that require quick access.

Pros

  • Simple design
  • Smart shortcuts
  • Easy organisation

Cons

  • Sometimes it relies too heavily on shortcuts for formatting, which can make it hard if you don't know / recall them.
  • 'space' for AI commands is a bit aggressive and I often end up accidentally triggering it when I don't intend to.
  • Centralises note taking and increases access outside of individuals various ways of taking notes
  • Increased knowledge base / sharing of organisation
Notion is quite simple to use. The shortcuts can save quite a bit of time once you are used to using it, so even fast / short form notes can end up quite well formatted and organised.
However this can also be a negative point, given it can sometimes be difficult to figure out formatting options when you don't yet know the shortcuts.
Notion is far superior to OneNote.
OneNote is unnecessarily complex and quite constrained by 'old ways' of doing things.
Notion is a more simplistic interface and just 'works'.
OneNote can also be a challenge if you're not integrated properly into OneDrive etc.

Do you think Notion delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Notion's feature set?

Yes

Did Notion live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Notion go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Notion again?

Yes

Notion is really well suited for those moments where you just need something to quickly document your thoughts.
I often have a single page that I use as sort of a continual notebook that I can look back if needed.
I also use it for documenting specific events, like meeting notes, training courses or a scratchpad for a specific project / topic.

It is less appropriate for formalised documentation or situations where you would want to publish / share a document around.
