Overall Satisfaction with ON24
We live in a technical subject matter world. We have two audiences for our ON24 content:
- Internal employee training for our professionals.
- Public webcasts for our clients and referral sources.
- Being able to prepare a presentation and record it ahead of the webcast is beneficial. Technical subject matter can be difficult to present in a digestible format.
- Our users are not accustomed to operating in a studio environment. The platforms they're accustomed to include Webex and Zoom. When trying to use ON24, they become overwhelmed. I don't know how to improve this. I believe recurring users get beyond the issue. To assist new users, our firm has to provide an employee to act as trainer and producer. It's a burden we didn't expect.
- Conducting public webcasts in coordination with other business partners has promoted the sharing of contacts. No direct business has come from this, but we haven't taken action to make anything happen. That said, we do recognize the opportunity.
- Using ON24 for our internal employee training programs has been a heavy lift. The ON24 platform is far more complex than a basic Zoom webinar. In our situation, we have a rotating schedule where our CPAs provide training to our other CPAs. This rotation translates to an ongoing list of new users to train on the ON24 system. Without a dedicated employee provisioned to manage the ON24 system (training, production, etc.), this entire endeavor would have failed.
- Track registration and attendance
The pandemic has not had any effect on our use of ON24. We evaluated the software for online marketing and training purposes. These were happening before and after the pandemic began. If anything, people are burned out of online meetings and events, which might negatively affect the benefits of ON24 or any other webcasting platform.
- Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex Meetings and Zoom
We selected the ON24 platform because of the ability because of the Sim-2-Live feature and because of the certificate creation feature. Those speakers that present material are usually familiar with typical conference call platforms like Zoom and Webex. They are not familiar with anything like the ON24 webcast studio or the process of presenting. This has created a burden that we had not foreseen. Based on our experience, to evaluate how ON24 stacks up against other platforms, a qualified professional should become involved in the discovery process. We purchased the software because of a vision we had. The software had some features that sounded good and fit into our vision. We had no idea of the underlying details associated with our vision. If we had fully baked our business plan, we may have selected a different platform.
