Overall Satisfaction

  • The product is good for quick simple A/B tests such as moving of modules, buttons, text, color of elements on a page. It helps get answers to questions on whether simple changes to a page will drive conversion.
  • The product is good for visual changes to a page - making changes is as easy as clicking on an element and replacing it with a different one on file (Optimizely is also able to host the content from their end).
  • The product is having problems integrating with our secure server checkout pages since the tool is iFrame based and it may cause a potential security risk.
  • The code is not asynchronous based.
  • Increase ticket conversion rate.
  • Get more users into the purchase funnel from all areas throughout the site.
We have not been able to fully implement the product on our website due to secure server issues and push back from internal developers who are concerned with it conflicting with code on the page. I have also noticed it takes consider amount of time to set up success metrics which are not the standard click through rate.

Product Usage

  • Currently it is not being used due to an implementation issue with our secure server and the way Optimizely is implemented on page.

Evaluation and Selection

We are using both Optimizely and Adobe Test&Target. We did not switch from one to the other.

Implementation

The implementation process has been a major chore within our company. Developers have pushed back on placing the code snippet on any non-purchase transaction pages since it may cause load issues (therefore it is not on our site currently). For the purchase transaction pages, we have had issues with giving Optimizely access since we have a secure server blocking the iFrame from loading our site. Developers do not want to grant access since this may cause breaches in security.

Training

The tool itself is not very difficult to use so training was not very useful in my opinion. It did not also account for success events more complex than a click (which my company being ecommerce is looking to examine more than a mere click).

Support

I personally, do not like their email tracking system or meeting set up system. It only allows for a 30 minute window for meetings. It makes things feel disjointed to me.
