Overall Satisfaction with Optimizely
We are utilizing Optimizely throughout the lead generation department to decrease our advertising costs (CPA) to increase ROI. While we currently meet or exceed all our departmental ROI goals, by working on conversion rate optimization (CRO) we can greatly improve our results with minimal increased effort. Within the first 48 hours, we had already achieved actionable data and saw positive results for our landing page conversion rates.
Pros
- The interface is easy to learn, and with minimal research, we are now able to quickly launch A/B and Multivariate tests within a matter of hours after conception. It removes the process of optimizing landing pages from the development team and places it in the hands of the marketers, greatly speeding up the testing process.
- The results are easy to review, providing clear, actionable insight into which variations are more effective for our goals. In addition, Optimizely allows you to dig into the data further, to gain insights into user behavior by browser, mobile, and more.
Cons
- The mobile interface can be a bit clunky, and I found myself wishing that the default setting for iPads was not mobile. I always switch to the desktop interface, even on mobile devices, because it's the only way to really get at the data/experiments.
- Increased effectiveness of ad spend by decreasing CPA within existing campaigns.

Yes - I've used it briefly, but found it difficult to use. I would say that the mobile interface needs a bit of work before I would adopt it as a typical way of accessing the system. I wasn't able to successfully make edits to tests to review the results.
