Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
For one of our recent healthcare clients, we have chosen Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for several important reasons. Firstly, OCI allows us to easily scale our IT resources, which is crucial in the healthcare industry where patient data and application needs can vary significantly. Security and compliance are of utmost importance in our sector, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure provides extensive security features including encryption, access restrictions, and audit capabilities to ensure we meet stringent requirements like HIPAA. Additionally, OCI's pay-as-you-go pricing model has allowed us to optimize expenses and reduce infrastructure costs. The autonomous database services offered by OCI have streamlined database administration tasks, resulting in significant cost savings. Lastly, we have utilized Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for disaster recovery and high availability to ensure uninterrupted business operations.
- For apps driven by events or micro-services, Oracle Functions by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure presents a serverless computing choice. It lets programmers bypass server management when running code, streamlining app development, and deployment.
- The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure high-performance computing is suited to a compute-intensive and large data workload. The other type is a dedicated compute-optimised instance which contains a GPU that is useful for deep learning, image processing, and scientific computations. Such resources help in quick computing and learning of models inside the organization.
- Self-driving, self-securing, and self-healing database services that come under Oracle Cloud Infrastructure autonomous database services include autonomous data warehouse and transaction processing. Database task automation can encompass regular optimization of various routines, enhancement of a DBMS, and assurance of integrity and uninterrupted access to the database.
- Pricing: While Oracle offers competitive pricing, I personally find it challenging to understand their billing statements due to complex pricing models.
- User Interface: I did not find its UI intuitive or user-friendly compared to competitors.
- Integration: Oracle Cloud Infrastructure does not provide direct service integrations with other cloud providers or with services which makes it more challenging for the users.
- Cost-Saving: Even though the pricing of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is somewhat complex, it's still very competitive as compared to other cloud providers.
- Reduced Latency: The proximity between Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle's database and alertness services notably reduces latency, resulting in faster record entry and application response instances.
- Easy Migration: For businesses already using Oracle’s in-house solutions, the migration to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is usually straightforward. OCI provides tools and services for a smooth transition to the cloud.
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure excels in website hosting Oracle workloads. It gives optimized infrastructure and database offerings for Oracle Database, making it a natural preference for businesses heavily reliant on Oracle technology. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's close proximity to Oracle Database enables low latency, making it the perfect choice for applications that demand fast data retrieval. These are the two among many reasons that make Oracle Cloud Infrastructure stronger as compared to others.
