Overall Satisfaction with Oracle PeopleSoft HCM

The application is used by the whole organization, US headquarters and international offices at UK, Canada, Singapore, EMEA, Asia Pacific, DACH, and other smaller business units. It provides uniformity in processes, internal controls, as well as reporting. It facilitates the budget process as well and has provided a much needed structure and consistency across the board.
  • Core HR records are kept consistently.
  • The system will request mandatory items that we need to fill in to be compliant in each of the different countries. It recognizes what is required in each country and will have a mandatory field for any item that we must have. It forces us to look into these items when we don't know what they are and review our processes. It helps us to make sure we are compliant as well.
  • Record pages are very detailed and allows us to have other custom fields according to our needs.
  • The system provides very detailed payroll reports with all the necessary information for our tax filings.
  • Flexibility to do allocations and set up the GL lines the way Finance needs them for their journal entries.
  • The system does not provide an interface with a third-party tax processor for quarterly 941s, etc.
  • Some of the menus are not intuitive and it's hard to figure out some items on your own.
  • Security roles can be hard to configure.
  • We are five years into it and do not regret the decision. We have definitely achieved several business objectives thanks to having purchased the PeopleSoft HCM application.
  • We have increased our efficiency and improved our internal controls remarkably since this purchase.
  • The only negative has been some resistance from a few of our locations and fear of the "unknown" but for the most part most of our staff has embraced this implementation.
They are different applications as the FSCM application is for the Finance side of things. I haven't reviewed FSCM but it is a great application and interfaces with PeopleSoft FSCM. Journal lines are generated in HCM to go into the general ledger in FSCM and this interface works beautifully. I fully recommend both applications.
I highly recommend HCM for global organizations as it will have all the fields that you need for each country. It will help you ensure you are compliant in every country.
The security settings are sometimes hard to configure, but once they are set, it is smooth sailing. I would recommend having a super user who can assist other employees as some functions are not intuitive if they try to teach themselves.
