Paylocity Review
Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
So we use Paylocity for HR and payroll. Basically, we use it also for onboarding and the fact that it takes care of our I-9 verifications. We also use it for our ACA. We use it for a lot of different things. I know I can do so much more with Paylocity, but realistically I'm an HR team of one. I just don't have the time to learn how to do the performance reviews, learn how to do the learning management system. I know we pay for it right now and I will get to it at some point, but not right now.
Pros
- Honestly, I think the best thing about Paylocity is their customer service manager. So we had one named {B...}, and he was amazing. We had him for about six months. Anytime I had any sort of issue or question, he was immediately responsive. Either would respond within the hour or if he doesn't know the answer, he's like, I'm working on getting this answer for you. Loved [B...]. And [B...] got promoted. Good for him. We were so sad we lost him. But now we have [M...] and [M...] is also great. I honestly don't reach out to [M...] as frequently as I did [B...], that's because with [B...] we were still new at the product. I had a lot more questions. Now I'm in a little bit more steady state. We're pretty comfortable. But yeah, I would say that the customer service side Paylocity does very, very well.
Cons
- I think the implementation was unnecessarily hard. I think there were too many cooks in the kitchen. There was not just one person who knew everything. We had to work with [...] for onboarding. We had to work with [...} for time and labor. We had to work with, I don't remember her name, for HR and payroll. It was just like three different people were experts in three different things and no one actually knew what the other person did. So when you're on a call and if all three didn't join, it was kind of really difficult. And getting the answer to some things, I had to reach out to [...] and be like, Hey, I'm pretty sure you showed this to me during the demo, but they don't know what I'm talking about. And [...] just had to step in and be like, Hey, this is what I'm talking about. And he taught the implementation team how to do something that I knew you guys could do. And that was a little frustrating that not everyone was trained to the same level [...] was.
- Making data-driven decision making, a hundred percent. It is so easy to go in and be like, "Hey, how often are employees actually coming into the office in the workplace?" And I can just pull hours that they work remotely versus hours that they were in the office. And it's so the fact that I just took me 10 minutes on pay loss' things to create a dynamic report and do that, amazing. I was so happy. I was like, wow, I just figured this out on my own. I love that.
I think you guys do a great job.
I know we should be using the capability. I swear if I weren't an HR department of one, there's so many more things I would use. I do want to use that eventually. I'll get there.
We were on Paychex for a number of years. We were on ADP before that, I was on Workday for my previous company. I was on UKG for when I was at [...]. So I've worked with a lot of different HRIS systems and I would say that Paylocity is by far the most intuitive and easy to use. Honestly, BambooHR, when we went through the product demo with them, highly recommend it. They just didn't have the payroll capabilities that we were looking for at the time and they were just cheap. They were so cheap. But it's okay. I'm happy that we're with Paylocity.
