Overall Satisfaction with Prophix

Currently, the finance department is the main user of Prophix but we disseminate the reports to other department. We eventually hope to launch to all departments.

We have multiple systems that need to be consolidated in our reporting. Prophix allows us to make a single report from these diverse sources so that we present a uniform appearance and see the total numbers for the whole company rather than bits and pieces that don't take the whole into account.
  • We have four sources of data. Prophix allows us to consolidate our data and create reports that present a uniform appearance.
  • Prophix makes it easy to import data and automates the process so that once set up you can let it run on schedule.
  • You can create new reports using the same data. This ensures that you have uniform numbers in all reports (that can be tough with spreadsheets).
  • Training and help resources are fabulous. Customer support is important to Prophix and they work very hard at it. They want you to learn to the level you want to learn. They guide you to be independent of them with your in house development (although if you prefer to pay them to set everything up they'll do that too).
  • I can't think of room for improvement. They seem to come out with upgrades before I've really thought of needing that function.
  • We are in the early stages of development. We currently are working on consolidating our data and reporting.
  • Report dissemination has become much easier. Prophix allows us to create a single report then send the department information to each department manager. Just breaking up the data used to be a long process. Now it is just takes a few clicks.
  • Our next project will be the budget. Prophix will streamline this process and make it easier to get it done in a timely manner.
Using SQL, you create the data view to be imported. If you have a SQL person then you are set.

You can set the import to run on a schedule. When run, there may be records that are rejected for some reason. Prophix will give you a list so that you can see what happened and correct the problem.

The trickiest part of import for us is that one of our systems changes their tables or field uses. This will trip up our data feed and we have to reprogram it. This would be less of a problem with a more stable ERP.
We currently use on-premises hosting and also web access. I believe our IT department is looking at moving to the cloud.

I like the flexibility that Prophix offers. More companies are moving to the cloud and I think limiting how your product is deployed could mean you lose out on gaining more customers.
I think Prophix has created a wonderful community of users. I went to their user conference earlier this year and met a diverse group of users. Many of these people have used Prophix at multiple positions. Many of them changed companies and implemented Prophix at their new organization. I feel many users don't leave Prophix which is a sign of how helpful they have found it.
This is the first time I have used a product like this. I didn't participate in the decision process as this happened before I started this job.
If you have multiple sources of data, Prophix will be a good fit. We are able to integrate our payroll data with our GL data to get department and task reporting. We are able to join our two ERPs' GL information to get expense and sales reporting. We are also able to import Excel data.

Your budget process can be set up in a workflow allowing for easy updating and tracking. Let's face it, our managers aren't always getting their budgets done on time. With Prophix, you can set up the workflow and track their progress. You can set up the review process and have each level of review receive and approve the budget. All of this is automatic and saves you time. Sorry, you'll still have to do a little babysitting since some people are a little slow to submit their budgets but Prophix makes it a little easier.

There are some planning tools that I want to look into as we complete our other projects.

I feel that Prophix continues to develop new ways to use their product. I love the workflow capability. Report dissemination is very automatic also. Your more savvy users can also dive a little deeper into the data and create their own views.

I think that if you are a small company that has a single source of data then you likely can't justify using a tool like this. Larger companies, even with a single source will be able to automate communication and budgeting so the expense may be worthwhile.

Yes - We have had some dev work and extra training support. I have been very pleased by how responsive Prophix is to my questions, even the silly little ones. All of their staff puts forth a lot of effort to ensure my questions are answered. If a request has to be escalated it is at their suggestion, I don't have to push for it or complain. Prophix is the most responsive company I have every worked with.
Every time. I attended a user conference and was lucky that I got to meet some of the people I talk to. It is great putting a face with a name. This has increased my comfort level when I call and I get someone I know!
