Overall Satisfaction with Prophix

Prophix is used by all our managers and sales people. It really has helped reduced the time with the budget / sales forecast cycle. No more, putting 100 files together and making sure the links have been updated. It really has saved us a lot of time. We use Prophix to do expense forecasting, revenue forecasting, month-end process. It really has taken over our department.

With the latest upgrade, we are using the name sets for the time dimension. This has saved me 8 hours per month. I no longer have to go into 33 templates and update the time frame. The name set has fixed this for me. Thank you Prophix for me giving me the idea!

  • Lots of webinars to keep updated with all the new additions that they add to Prophix
  • Great feedback website. I can see that the feedback that I give to Prophix actually gets their attention. A couple of my ideas have helped Prophix improved its performance.
  • A lot of upgrades to new versions. Although, each upgrade gives additional functionality, it is hard to keep up with the latest version.
  • Graphing is not ideal in Prophix. This is supposed to be additional graphing functionality coming out later this year.
  • Speed. I wish template studio was faster to open and the data entry portion.
  • Overseas. My sales people struggle with the speed even more when they are in Europe and Asia.
  • Increased efficiency with regards to doing budgets/revenue forecasts
  • We really have pushed Prophix by multi-purposing the product by doing budget and revenue forecasts.
  • Prophix has a hard time with the number of customers we forecast (for revenue). It is just slow for the user.
They had really good support in 2013. The support in 2014 went downward. It was very disappointing.
I really like Prophix. It has made my job so much more easier. The workflows to make sure everything gets done, will make training a breeze. And will help prevent missed steps. One of the big sellers of Prophix is that we did not need IT's support. The only time we need IT is when we do an upgrade and if we need new or additional information from our IFS to Prophix.

Using Prophix

There is a handful of the managers that do the cell comments and line item details to help them budget. We use the workflow comments to help remind us of changes that we need to do in a process. It helps cuts down going two different places to get the job done.
My favorite thing about Prophix is the workflow. I feel like we are so much more efficient as a team and when we are all working together trying to finish up the month end process. We don't use the automated report distribution, template pre-population or multi-tiered allocations because we send out everything in excel. In excel we add comments and graphs to the files before we send them out.

1 - Prophix really runs on its own. Besides receiving help from IT when we do an upgrade. Prophix is supported and used by the finance department to make sure that it is running successfully.

We like the workflows and how it can manage our workload for getting the expense (including capital and headcount) and revenue forecast/budget. The expense forecast We also have a separate workflow for the month end process to complete the financial package.

Integrating Prophix

It would been nice to capture the data at the parent. That would help from causing a lot of duplications in the BI system.
  • We have integrated Prophix with our home grown BI system.
We were only able to capture data by the leaf level, so it we used a parent in Prophix we had to create the parent in the BI. So, that was the most difficult part of the integration.
None. We use SSIS to get the data out of Prophix and to put it into the BI system. It was helpful knowing the SSIS when we did Prophix so when we started to do SSIS for the BI we already worked out most of the issues. We have had Prophix for about 6 years and the home grown BI system for about 2 years.

Using Prophix

I just find Prophix so easy to use, and time saver that it only makes sense for us to have it.

  • After going through some training, everything seemed very easy.
  • Creating a report was a breeze. We had all our reports created in a few days. And they only needed to be created once verses every month.
  • Workflows.
  • SmartMonitor. I don't really understand it. And if I even did understand, we would not use it at our company.

Prophix Reliability

During high peak times revenue and budget forecastings, (50 users in the system) Prophix does struggle during the time. I am usually asking IT once a quarter during the peak times to restart the server because its on overload. I have tried to train my users to use the system at different times, but when everyone waits to the last minute to perform their task Prophix can't keep up.

We liked the security of Prophix. With so many people in Prophix and some of things we have in Prophix are confidential we really can tailor the security depending on your role.

Prophix Implementation

There were no issue with the implementation. Because we did the implantation in phases, we quickly figured out that we knew more than the consultant after they came out the 3rd time.
Yes - We first implemented doing the financials reports (P&L) including the budgeting processes. After that was completed we worked on revenue forecasting and rolling it out to all the sales people including the global sales people. We then worked on creating the allocations for the budget process, shop order scrap and inventory reporting, and finally the consolidation piece of the financial statements.
