Overall Satisfaction with Qlik Sense

Qliksense is being used by non-technical or people with limited technical backgrounds within our organization to produce data and analysis to enable performance management of our supply chain. The main reason we adopted Qlik is that it allowed us to take data from several of our legacy systems, Qliksense allows non-technical staff to produce data visualization with limited support from technical staff.
  • Takes data from multiple sources (including Excel) to help bring together disparate data sets.
  • Simple to use charts and graphics that allow quick insight.
  • Easy to use interface to allow users to develop reports quickly to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Still requires some technical knowledge that often meant me having to support.
  • Difficult to do more complex charts and visualizations.
  • I don't have the ROI figures but I know it has lead to more responsive decision making and greater visibility of data.
  • It is quite expensive so we have not rolled it out any further than supply chain who are the most data-hungry customers.
We use QlikView as well so it was really easy to use the existing data warehouse that we used for QlikView to feed our Qliksense applications. QlikView is also a very good tool that we tend to use for the more complex data compilations and visualisations, however, this requires developer time whereas Qliksense mostly does not. We looked at MS Power BI and although it was an attractive product Qlik was already well established and it would have meant getting training or new team members with experience as well as rebuilding the data warehouse.
It is good for creating simple KPIs and metrics. For example, if you want a screen above an office that shows a simple count of how many tasks, etc. If you want charts with burn down rates or reference lines and things that are a bit more tricky it's less capable of doing this.
