Overall Satisfaction with QuickBase

QuickBase is being used extensively in our Center for Social Research on many community and internal research projects as well as in the Provost Office for the Division for Academic Affairs. I have created more than 45 applications, integrated into our own website, in order to improve process flow and data collection for both staff and faculty. The business problem it addresses is lack of IT ability to design and collect said data.
  • Database design and collection, as well as reporting functions are great for the non-IT person to create. Before we had QuickBase, all data collection and storage was done with Microsoft Excel with no way to integrate into our website.
  • Love the API calls that bring up immediate/searchable information for our internal and external professional faculty and researchers across the globe.
  • The versatality of the system even allows me to create on-demand RSVP forms for event planning, calendar creation, faculty funding applications, scholarship/grant/research reporting and more, with easy and automatic workflow transactions.
  • Easy to train others.
  • QuickBase online or phone assistance is awesome. Customer service is the best!
  • New pricing structure is concerning with our non-profit institution.
  • I would like more advanced training offered on webinars as well as other training opportunities that are more affordable.
  • I'd like QuickBase to contact our IT department to convince them to support our use of their product. Right now there are only two departments that use QB extensively.
  • I would like an opportunity to work for QB to create a new niche and programs within higher education. With what I've developed for us, I'm already receiving questions from other colleges about how to create something similar.
  • Ease of use/development, efficiency, workflow, data collection, reporting - more departments are requesting my expertise in designing these. With accreditation coming up next year, our data collection from faculty will also be critical for our evaluation at the college. Data collection and annual comparisons of reporting is a huge help with our overall strategic planning.
I've used Sharepoint, Access, and Excel. None of them have the creativity and ease-of-use for the non-IT user than QuickBase. However, since using QuickBase, I have now become an IT guru and have no desire to switch to anything else!
Affordability is key as is incorporating QuickBase within our portal and other database structures (right now there are adhoc databases throughout the organization). We need all data structures to be able to talk to each other. IT is also very concerned about security.

Using QuickBase

I've built up too much of an internal data structure for anyone to get rid of QB anytime soon, unless I leave. And even then, they will need to find someone else to manage the applications that I've built. Renewal decision will depend upon increase of cost and our IT department's (and college's) commitment to keeping it.
