For those who don't trust the cloud
Overall Satisfaction with QuickBooks Desktop Pro
QuickBooks Desktop Pro was used in a proof-of-concept to demonstrate how the tool can be used in conjunction with RPA. The front-end was automated to a certain degree as identified by the Process Design Document. QuickBooks allows for fast and easy accounting solutions, primarily marketing to small- and medium-sized businesses. This provided an excellent use-case for RPA.
Pros
- Incredibly easy to use compared to managing your own company's finances.
- Considering the cost-to-time savings ratio, return on investment is well worth the cost
Cons
- Due to it being a client-based software, it doesn't have the benefits of cloud-based solutions, however this is unavoidable and QuickBooks does offer a cloud solution
- No-one has a CD/DVD drive anymore, so installation must be done over the internet
- Much faster turnover on accounting compared to done-by-hand accounting
- Cost of employing a dedicated accountant is more expensive
FreshBooks I believe is a better service-industry and solo-business tool, however for businesses that are mainly retail-based and are smaller than 100 employees, I would use QuickBooks. However, I would not recommend Desktop Pro to anyone who trusts the cloud. For the skeptics, it is perfect. I selected QuickBooks Desktop Pro because it does perfectly fit the niche of users who want all their data in one place, under their roof.
