Overall Satisfaction with QuickBooks Online Advanced

I have used QuickBooks Online Advanced for companies where I provided CFO services and I have used it directly for clients who do their own accounting. I find it meets most business needs for most clients. My ability to go into their systems, run reports for analysis and troubleshoot is invaluable. I am able to train them easily on the software and it is reliable.

Pros

  • Track Inventory
  • Track Bank information and reconcile with bank
  • Invoice customers through email
  • Ability to be paid from a mailed invoice with a credit card

Cons

  • Sometimes the connectivity with the bank is slow or needs to be tried several times.
  • We have as many clients as we can use QuickBooks Online so that we can easily perform analytics and prepare tax returns for them in less time.
  • With QuickBooks Online I can access my client's books to answer questions easily and help them enter transactions more accurately, saving me time in reviewing financial statements.
  • With all my clients using QuickBooks Online we have consistency in our in-house practices for our staff and it makes them easy to train. They can also ask co-workers for help if they encounter problems they don't know how to solve in QuickBooks Online.
Unfortunately, I cannot answer the setup questions because QuickBooks Online was already set up when I joined, however, I can attest to how easy it is to learn, flexible it is when you want to make changes, and easy to train others to use. I would recommend QuickBooks Online to anyone starting a Financial Services, or Accounting Firm.
We have clients in different geographies who access the system while on vacation and they love the flexibility to do that. You can work from anywhere and as long as you have a good internet signal you will be fine. The ability for me to be in the system while my clients are also in the system is invaluable since I can direct them exactly where they need to be to do what they need to accomplish.
Again our specific industry needs are that we have clients who access their systems from various locations and we also want to be able to access our client's data from where ever we want to work, yes even on vacation. QuickBooks Online Advanced addresses these needs perfectly.
Enterprise does not provide the geographic flexibility to access you data from anywhere without VPN or other things that are way more expensive to institute.

QuickBooks Online advanced is well suited to companies with limited Inventory tracking needs. It does not have a bill of material capability - QuickBooks Enterprise with Advanced Inventory does. It does all basic Accounts Payable and Accounts Receiveable very well. It handles reconciling bank information and receiving credit card data very well. The ability to "memorize" where an expense goes or revenue category is is also very handy.
