Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Raiser's Edge NXT is being used solely in the development office here. There are 5 people using Raiser's Edge but 2 of them almost exclusively work in NXT. Information and reporting are just a click away. It is very easy to get stats immediately, someone's giving history, everything, right at your fingertips.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Instant graphics for multiple stats.
Able to see so much more on one screen instead of having to click through to multiple screens.
Very user-friendly.

Cons

In Notes/Actions when something is entered in the "summary" field it runs together with the actual text of the note/action. It's a bit confusing when someone opens the record and starts reading it. I like the separation better in RE.
Be able to enter gifts and pledges.
I don't use NXT a lot, I'm still transitioning to using it more, I'm stuck in the database view most of the time, just because I'm familiar with it.

For the most part I believe we have. I am not the most consistent user of RE NXT though, as I mentioned earlier. Our director is in it all day long. I only use it periodically, still in database view mode.

Impact of Working with Vendor

We have benefited. Mostly with the wealth screening, that is very valuable to us. It's nice to have that populate immediately when records are added to the system. I mostly monitor data going into our system and take care of stewarding our donors so I don't really use most of the features that are available as my director and the prospect researcher do.

Alternatives Considered

Datatel

Other than homegrown databases Datatel is the only other database product I have used. And in comparing the two Raiser's Edge is leaps and bounds ahead of Datatel as far as ease of use, reporting, basically everything.

Likelihood to Recommend

For graphics and visual impact it's great. It's a very impressive tool in meetings to show stats with just a click of the button. People can easily see what the breakdown is of constituents giving to our organization, or how many donors gave to a particular appeal, and on and on.

I have never chatted, emailed, or talked on the phone with anyone from Raiser's Edge support who wasn't completely professional, calm, and reassuring, AND always able to help me solve my issue. Most times I am completely at a loss when I go to support. I usually check Knowledgebase and if I can't figure it out from that I go to Chat most often. Sometimes it is necessary for a screen share to see exactly what I'm trying to explain. Those times are the most rewarding for me because the person can actually see what I'm desperately trying to explain to them and my outcomes have always been favorable. I love RE support, all aspects of it.
