Overall Satisfaction with Read&Write
I work in an educational collaborative where all students have IEPs. Read&Write is a universal accessibility tool for our school and we support students in choosing which features best support their individual learning needs. Additionally, I consult with districts in the surrounding area as an Assistive Technology Specialist and will often support student access to Read&Write in those settings.
Pros
- word prediction
- dictionary tool and picture dictionary
- Ability to turn on and off features depending on student preference
Cons
- I would love suggestions for clarity, word choice, and correctness similar to Grammarly
- I would like a plagiarism detector built in
- I would like to be able to make the feature buttons larger
- Improves learning outcomes
- Universal tool that increase efficiency in accessing assistive technology and decreases my caseload as an AT Specialist
- Tools like audiomaker and practice read-aloud save teachers time
With Read&Write we are able to provide an optimal digital learning environment for our students. These tools allow our students to personalize their learning needs and empower them to take ownership. The fact that this tool is available digitally across content areas, platforms, devices, and LMS's furthers our goal of providing ease of access to accessibility tools for our students.
