Overall Satisfaction with Read&Write

We use Read&Write to help students annotate texts for comprehension, write texts to reflect on and analyze meaning, and collaborate with other students. Read&Write helps our students prepare for the state assessment with similar tools, building their confidence before they reach the Summative Assessment.

Pros

  • Annotating texts
  • Giving students voice
  • Preparing students for testing/writing

Cons

  • Can be slow/glitchy
  • We do not yet have scores to give this a solid answer, but teachers have reported greater engagement and use.
We have not tried to integrate with our LMS (Schoology), but we have had all students download the chrome extension, which is quick and easy.
Not at this time. I work with training the teachers, so I do not get to see the impact with students in the classroom, but I do know it was one of their favorite tools to use. It encourages reluctant readers and writers to engage in the class activities and learning.
