Overall Satisfaction with SAP Analytics Cloud

We are primarily using SAC for dashboards showing long-term trends, especially sales, inventory, AR etc.

Pros

  • Small dashboards with live connection. Larger volumes of data in import mode.
  • dashboards with small widgets and requiring small amounts of data.
  • Navigation features in tabular format.

Cons

  • Maximizing the usage of screen real estate.
  • Better performance with multiple widgets.
  • Ability to handle larger volume.
  • Ability to paginate charts and tables showing only top entries.
  • Ability to connect stores to different data models and ability to change the source for a data model. Without this, every time the dashboard needs to be rebuilt when the backend view needs to be changed.
  • Good for reporting and analytics dashboards. End-user adoption is not easy compared to the competition.
  • Not mature enough for financial planning, especially handling large volumes of data.
  • Easier to enable and render dashboards on mobiles. Business executives like the tool and have a very positive impact.
The product is still evolving and more usability and sustainability features need to be added to the product. Performance optimizations are required. Better managing the real estate on dashboards is required.
SAC lacks some of the prominent features found in other tools. But a fully functional tool. The way live connections work with SAC and better integration with SAP back-end products makes SAC a preferred choice.

The tool still needs a lot of improvements to match the competition. More usability feature needs to be added to the tool. Flexibility to develop and move to a different source is not there currently. Charts should show the top entries and then provide the ability to see the next page. Automatically scaling the display to different screen sizes needs improvement.

Using SAP Analytics Cloud

10 - SAP Functional knowledge, HANA reporting skills and SAC product knowledge.
  • Forecast to Schedule dashboards.
  • Dashboards for other process areas
  • Data Analyzer for ad-hoc analysis
  • Data explorer views
  • Data explorer for ad-hoc analysis.
  • Quickly build and expose models to end users.
  • Build complex dashboards with multi-page layout. Enable lazy loading to improve the performance.
  • Integrate with BDC
  • Move more reporting from BOBJ and utilize the scheduling options.
This product is one of our strategic reporting tools. Also, this would enable easier migration to BDC in future.

SAP Analytics Cloud Support

SAP is very slow in addressing critical feature requests.
