Overall Satisfaction with SAP SuccessFactors

As a large partner of SAP, our organization relies on SuccessFactors to support many aspects of the employee needs: recruiting, learning, performance, time & attendance, etc. across our NA region. Having a suite of products and modules from one vendor makes the experience seamless for employees and administrators. A suite of products from a single vendor is advantageous in large organizations.

Pros

  • Seamless workflow from module to module for easy navigation and ease of understanding
  • The Learning module can handle complex learning events as well as simple web-based standalone training
  • Performance and Learning are natively linked to ensure flow

Cons

  • While the CSS can be manipulated, the overall white labeling abilities are limited along with the ability to truly customize the experience easily.
  • Reporting functionality is outdated and any attempt to create customized dashboards requires SQL programming knowledge -- not a typical skillset found on most L&D or HR teams.
  • In my experience, search functionality is frustrating for end-users even with full, clean data on the learning objects.

Its intuitive design, powerful customization options, and comprehensive mobile support are it's best areas. The layout is generally clean and easy to navigate, with key functions easily accessible from the dashboard. Users can quickly find what they need without excessive clicks, which is crucial for maintaining productivity. SuccessFactors offers a high degree of customization, such as customizable dashboards, workflows, and reporting tools. There is also robust mobile support.
SAP SuccessFactors’ localized cloud platform significantly enhances our operational efficiency by standardizing core HR processes, supporting our overall org growth, and boosting our employee productivity through personalized, AI-driven experiences. Its scalability, global reach, and integration capabilities make it a valuable asset for large companies (across verticals and industries) aiming to streamline their HR operations and improve overall workforce management.
Ops: Automated Administrative Tasks, Predictive Analytics for Workforce Planning, Personalized Learning and Development, Improved Recruitment Processes, and Dynamic Workforce Management.

HR: AI-Driven Candidate Screening, Onboarding Process Optimization, Continuous Feedback Systems (Perf Mgmt), Employee Engagement Analysis, Customized Training Programs, and Skill Gap Analysis.

These are all areas where AI within SuccessFactors can play a role.
Our choice of SAP SuccessFactors was driven by its comprehensive capabilities, seamless integration with the broader SAP ecosystem, and strong support for global operations. While it may have a higher cost and complexity compared to Dayforce & Workday, its advanced features, AI-driven insights, and scalability make it an optimal choice for large, dynamic organizations looking to align their HR processes with overall business strategies.

SuccessFactors is well suited for organizations looking to host a myriad of their people-related services under one service umbrella. But, as the old adage goes, "jack of all trades, master of none." In my opinion, SAP SuccessFactors is not outstanding in any particular area. Its competence in a great number of areas/modules is worth noting and its ability to handle complex scenarios, use cases, and requirements is important to organizations with equally high complexity; however, this isn't the technology Millennials, Gen Z, and younger employees are going to be impressed by.
