Overall Satisfaction with Schoology

I am an Instructional Tech Coach for Lowndes County School District in Mississippi. When our district decided to start a 1:1 initiative, we knew we would need an LMS. We reviewed several programs and even met with a couple of different representatives. Once we narrowed the choice down to two LMS's and they both "pitched" to all of our administrators and lead teachers, the team voted 99% to go with Schoology. Schoology is very intuitive and for teachers who were "tech shy" it was an easier transition because it reminded them of a social media platform. We have just finished our 2nd year and it has been amazing. Schoology is one of the only programs that I have seen that is appropriate K-12. They are also always adapting and improving what they are doing. If you are looking for an LMS, Schoology will fit your needs.
  • Platform is grades K-12 friendly
  • Program is intuitive and easy to use
  • Wonderful app
  • Schoology is always improving their product
  • Great support staff
  • When putting in assignments they do not always [appear] the way you have entered them in, but adding due dates will line them up in an order you want.
  • Adding images takes several steps within assignments and tests.
  • Schoology has made it possible to really use the technology available in a meaningful and engaging way.
  • It helps to create a community for each school and the district as a whole.
Other LMS that we reviewed did not have the same functionality. Many times they were not as intuitive, or took many more steps to complete tasks. Also the cost was better when you factored in what you got and who could use it. Many LMS would not work well with younger grades.
I would have originally said that testing is very reflective of paper and pencil tests, but Schoology is rolling out new assessments features for the Enterprise version this fall. The gradebook is not set up for a Student Information System. You still need that to run report cards and gather data.
