Overall Satisfaction with ScienceLogic SL1

If your environment is not laden with too many security rule and procedures, then this is a rather easy implementation process.

If you have a more complicated environment the design and planning takes a bit of time, but the implementation process is still not too much effort. It just takes a bit more time working out the kinks. But if your environment is set up with a bunch of security rules, any implementation process is delayed, so I can't say that this is necessarily due to SL's performance.
We use ScienceLogic as a monitoring tool to assist other companies manage and monitor their IT Estate. I personally assist with creating reports, Dynamic Applications, Run Book Automations and integrations into their other systems. I have to assist with custom requests, and mostly focus on their reports and integrations into their other monitoring systems.
  • Best overall coverage of montioring different technologies.
  • Easy to use in any environment
  • Customizable being able to generate your own reports, dashboards, DA's, RBA's, etc.
  • Have very good out of the box integrations with other monitoring solutions such as ServiceNow
  • Always improving and regularly releasing new versions and upgrades to the system/DA's.
  • Interactive community
  • Their reporting is difficult and complicated to create your own. This can also be moved to a newer language (AP2 View)
  • Being able to use their API/GQL with SSO

Do you think ScienceLogic SL1 delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Did ScienceLogic SL1 live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy ScienceLogic SL1 again?

Yes

  • Reducing the MTTR for incidents and events
  • Providing very good coverage of the environment, even picking up devices we were not aware of
  • 3rd Party integrations
SL would be great in most environments, as they cover a very wide range of technologies. There platform is easy to use, and the out of the box functionality covers most of what you would need in your environment.

I would say the environments where SL is difficult to use, is where there are a lot of security rules regarding firewalls, ldap and SSO. There are some features that does not always work across the board. However, even in these environments does SL do a great job and they are happy to assist getting the functionality you need..
